About Acting Up...

Founded in 2017; following extensive drama and teacher training; including BA Performing Arts, LAMDA and ALAM qualifications to teach the craft; and gaining experience of working in stage schools, I decided to set up my own theatre company. This has since gone from strength to strength and I enjoy seeing over 40 students come through my doors on a Saturday across two locations, and its fascinating to watch them grow. Every two years we endeavour to do one big company show, and in between, we learn new theatre skills, put on smaller performances and generally have fun. In addition to these sessions I also provide one to one speech and drama tuition, facilitate workshops and lessons in schools, care homes and other organisations and adjudicate plays. I also have experience working in Neurodiversity and adapt my lessons to suit whoever I am teaching.

My Mission Statement...

That each person is an individual, can be themselves and enjoy the activities. Acting Up! has a family feel and I strive to keep my classes small so every student can benefit to their full potential.

“Acting has always been my biggest passion and this is why I believe in the success of my little company. My method of teaching is greatly influenced by the Stanislavskian approach to theatre and rehearsal technique where you can actually ‘become’ the character rather than simply acting it. Here are a few action shots of me in more recent performances.”

My main aim is to tailor make classes to suit individual requirements as much as I possibly can in a fun and innovative way. Prior to starting with me, candidates/parents/organisations will be asked to complete a form stating what they want to achieve from my lessons and I will endeavour to cover these areas for them. I will be teaching the fundamentals of drama in an appropriate way depending on the age of my class, (please see further details below), as a bit of an “actor” myself, I inject a great deal of enthusiasm in to all my sessions and adapt to each demographic to ensure the material and presentation is enjoyable and engaging for all. Some of my classes are not yet up and running but I hope to have all categories facilitated within the next few months across Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. With all my age groups I will also offer fun and exciting themed sessions to coincide with important calendar events, and seasons throughout the year. By request I also now offer a private adjudication service, please see below for more information on this.
